Our materials are sound objects. Some are round, others square, others linear, and still others have completely irregular shapes.
Some of these objects have a smooth surface, others a rough one; they may be brightly colored or pastel, and sometimes completely transparent…
Each of us, from our studios—Large Array in Los Angeles and Nina Studio in Paris—began working on these sound objects, sculpting them, painting them, and transforming them, either by enlarging them or miniaturizing them.
Then we began assembling them into rough drafts of sculptures and paintings, without finalizing anything—open-ended, provisional sketches.
We exchanged these sketches back and forth, assembling them, adding a final touch, polishing the surfaces, and unifying the colors.
From the first exploratory stems to the final mixing and mastering, our music—for Paul Haslinger and myself—is a progressive and collaborative assembly, the convergence of our expertise and musical cultures, our sensibilities and our imaginations.
Noion Music is our creative workshop, where music is sketched out, built, and assembled.
